Lawless's March Madness! This was a BLAST! With a visit from our friend Andy at Texas Roadhouse, Miss Lawless's Bulldogs faced off in a friendly basketball math review, enjoyed a visit from Mrs. Wilson who read them a final book before determining the winner of their book bracket! So much fun, all in one classroom!

There's no better time than March Madness for our third graders at McKinley Elementary to review Math & English concepts in centers! Follow the Bulldogs around as they practice fractions, rounding, word problems in the math centers. They practice punctuation, contractions, and definitions in English centers too!

The big book bracket is back... Mrs. Herdman's third grade class spent their March Madness month reading their favorite books, making their picks, and practicing their opinion writing as critics. Each student selected a book, made their bracket prediction, and voted on the winners until one book remained... Find out the winning book in Herdman's March Madness!

We're back in Mrs. Fitch's class for one of our favorite projects... MAKING A MESS! I MEAN... OOBLECK! Will our Bulldogs save the Kingdom of Didd from the Oobleck? Mrs. Fitch's first grade students made their own oobleck after reading Bartholomew and the Oobleck.

Is it a football or basketball, dog or polar bear? Miss Lawless's second grade Bulldogs at McKinley Elementary used their senses to inspire their adjectives! They wrote mystery clues for their class to guess their mystery object! Play along with us as a class!

This afternoon, Bus #1 was involved in a traffic accident during the PSHS/Middle School portion of the afternoon drop-off procedure. No students were immediately injured/harmed by the accident. The bus contained Poland Seminary High School students as they were en route to pick up the middle school students at Poland Middle School. Bus #1 riders were evaluated by local officials to ensure their safety. Then, the riders were relocated to another bus route to resume drop-off procedures under transportation emergency protocols. With the influx of traffic at the impacted area, expect delays in the afternoon drop-off procedures for all bus routes this afternoon.

We love reading... So we wrote about it! With the help of our K-3 Literacy Coach, Mrs. Wilson, and our librarian, Mrs. Day, the McKinley Elementary Bulldogs authored a book about why they love to read! Congratulations to the twelve McKinley Elementary and Poland Middle School students whose artworks have been selected for the 2026 Butler Institute of American Art Celebrates Young Artists Exhibition!

PI DAY COMPETITION! Congratulations to Poland Middle School fifth graders Cece & Meadow on memorizing 104 digits of pi! They are co-champions of the annual Pi Day Competition. And even more... Enjoy third graders Jane and Quinn from McKinley reach 111 digits, just two years before they are ready for the competition!

A football that talks, a lucky number that tells jokes, or a star that teleports... These are some of the amazing lucky charms of Mrs. Edgerly's third graders! For their March writing assignment, they used their creative imagination and descriptive words to write about their good luck charms!

From the 2024 residency in Mrs. Fening's Kindergarten class, to 2026 open-heart surgery in her Second Grade class, our Bulldogs are back at McKinley Elementary General Hospital! They operated on some broken hearts, sewing with phonics and adding with mathematics to save lives! Enjoy some 2-year anniversaries and other photos from inside the operating room!

It was an awesome week of reading again at McKinley Elementary! Our teachers and staff took the Bulldogs on a reading journey as they heard stories from special guests, dressed up as different Seuss characters, and even started writing their own books!

Happy National 3rd Grader Day?! (3/3) We just learned today was a special day for McKinley's creative third grade class! So today, we made... 3RD GRADE: THE MOVIE! Bulldogs were given a challenge to produce a short movie in 15 minutes, and yes... there was a little twist: include a random prop! Watch these content-creating geniuses at work!

WKBN: Students in Poland are getting a new “teacher” of sorts. Meet Louie the therapy dog. He’s a 7-year-old Golden Doodle who has held that title since he was one! Monday, he visited McKinley Elementary along with his handler from the Paw’s Therapy Team.

Hello friends! It’s Mrs. Wilson, your school literacy coach. As you know, this week is Right to Read Week at McKinley Elementary. Right to Read Week, also known as Read Across America Week, was launched by the National Education Association in 1998 to encourage children to read, and centers around Dr. Seuss’ birthday, which is March 2nd. I wanted to share a special message about why reading is so important to me in honor of Right to Read Week!

We celebrated 101 days of school in Mrs. Aikens' first grade classroom! Within a few minutes of the Bulldogs becoming owners of 101 dalmatians, they counted all their spots and then lost them! They had to go on a scavenger hunt to find all of them and solve a coloring mystery. Enjoy our 101st day of school!

LOVE MAKES THE WORLD GO ROUND! For Valentine's Day this year, Mrs. Wagner's first grade Bulldogs set a goal: Receive a Valentine's Card from all 50 states! Well, the mailbox filled up... quickly! Stickers, treats, t-shirts, postcards, shark teeth, seashells, and even ice cream!

KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION - 03/19/2026: We've added a day for Kindergarten Registration! Parents or guardians of children who will be five years old on or before August 1, 2026, are invited to attend. Only one parent or guardian per family needs to attend. Children are not required to be present for registration.

The Poland Board of Education approved the 2026-2027 school calendar on 02/04/2026.

Mrs. Brine and Mrs. Herdman's third graders have had quite the learning season, making it all the way to the SUPER BOWL! Watch Vivie and Adalyn spend $950 at the concession stand, Luca throw the penalty flag for bad grammar, and Kenzie & Dakota count the super bowls in a super fun football-themed day!
