All of Poland Schools K-12 participated in Start with Hello week September 16-20, full of events/themes dedicated to making new social connections and creating a sense of belonging among students!

Poland Local Schools earned 4.5 Stars overall on the 2023-2024 Ohio Report Card! Poland Local School District would like to thank our students, teachers, staff, administration, and the Poland community for their commitment to excellence in our school district. On Friday, September 13, 2024, Poland Local School District was made aware of a gas leak near the Poland McKinley Elementary (K-3) & Poland Middle School (4-6) facility. Local authorities were on the scene and notified the district that the facility should be evacuated. A Bulldog Alert was then issued.

*EXPIRED* Due to a gas leak on Michigan Avenue near the Poland Middle School/McKinley Elementary facility, local officials have directed all constituents of the facility to EVACUATE under district emergency protocols. *EXPIRED* 

Poland McKinley PTO is hosting a Spirit Day at Handel’s Homemade Ice Cream. This flyer is good for Wednesday, September 18, 2024 from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. only. Every flyer that is returned to the Poland Handel’s on that one special day will be totaled and the organization will receive 20% of the total sales.

Poland Local School District will be conducting bus evacuation drills on September 18 & 20. Please note that these are drills and that our transportation staff will be instructing students throughout the process. McKinley & Poland Middle Students will perform the drill Friday, September 20 upon morning arrival to school. PSHS Students will perform the drill Wednesday, September 18 before afternoon departure from school.

PATRIOT DAY - Poland's First Responders Walk | Poland Local Schools would like to thank our local first responders for all that they do to keep Poland great! They are heroes to so many Bulldogs, and we honored them in the Bulldog Way today with a special walk full of flags, posters, and thank you cards decorating the halls. Thank you!

Help us welcome the new students by decorating the connector sidewalks and the sidewalks around the school with chalk! Draw some pictures or leave "Paws"itive messages for everyone to read for the 1st day of school! Chalk will be out and available by the connector, on Sunday September 1 and Monday September 2 from 1-7 pm.

The McKinley PTO will be hosting play dates for our newest Bulldogs! The pups can play on the playground and meet their classmates!

Second Grade and Third Grade are moving up a grade, but to wrap up an amazing year, they enjoyed a sunny fun day! Thank you, McKinley/Middle PTO, for the festivities!

MCKINLEY PRINTS! Third Grade students invited their parents to a breakfast this week to celebrate moving on to fourth grade. Keeping with a tradition, Mr. Beard invited the students to leave their "paw" on the wall as a reminder to all students of what it means to be a McKinley Bulldog.

SPELLING BEE! Our third-grade students have been diligently improving their spelling skills. The culmination of their hard work was the class spelling bee, where finalists showcased their abilities in a friendly competition. Congratulations to Elaina P. for achieving first place, Leo D. for securing second place, and Olivia C. for earning third place! All our finalists demonstrated remarkable skill in each round!

It was a zoo at McKinley today, but in the GOOD way! 🦓🦒 Our 7th graders visited the K-3 Bulldogs to present on a variety of animals, answer questions, and share their 7th-grade experiences. From lions to zebras, they covered so much of the animal kingdom!

IT'S A HIT! ⚾️ Under the direction of Ms. Senatore, the first grade Bulldogs from McKinley Elementary stole some bases and our hearts at their spring concert! They were on pitch, throwing right into the STRIKE ZONE! Our smooth dance moves got us out of a PICKLE too! Overall, the night was a home run for our ALL STARS! Way to go!

When second graders from Miss Lawless' class approached Principal Mr. Beard with the idea of hosting a lemonade stand, his initial response was one of hesitation; typically, such activities are reserved for at-home fun. However, touched by the students' passionate plea to support pediatric cancer research, Mr. Beard was moved to give his approval. The students transformed their young entrepreneurial spirit into a charitable cause by hosting a lemonade stand that raised over $400 for pediatric cancer research and treatment! Read the story:
