Monday, September 30 - Go Gold for Childhood Cancer Awareness
Poland Local Schools K-12 Students/Staff: Go Gold on Monday, September 30, 2024!
Childhood Cancer Awareness Month (CCAM) is recognized every September by childhood cancer organizations around the world. With a goal to increase awareness and raise funds for those affected by childhood cancer, the American Childhood Cancer Organization encourages everyone to Go Gold® during September in honor and in memory of kids with cancer! On Monday, September 30th please wear yellow/gold to show your support of childhood cancer awareness because kids shouldn’t fight cancer alone.
Most childhood cancers fall into one of several specific types. Common adult cancers rarely occur in children or adolescents. Childhood cancers are rare, and only specially-trained doctors have the knowledge and experience to properly treat them. In fact, children need to be treated by a multidisciplinary team. Tomorrow, please wear yellow/gold to show your support of childhood cancer awareness because kids shouldn’t fight cancer alone.
St. Jude is leading the way the world understands, treats and defeats childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases. Treatments invented at St. Jude have helped push the overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20% to more than 80% since it opened in 1962. It takes a team of students, teachers, families, and communities to come together to help defeat childhood cancer.
